Abstract

In an increasingly digital world, the need for agile and mobile IT infrastructure has become critical—particularly for emergency response, remote industrial operations, and military or government communications. The PORDEC (Portable Data Center Enclosure) project, initiated by the DENOP program at Universitas Diponegoro, introduces an innovative solution that bridges mobility, resilience, and sustainable technology through a self-contained and portable data center cabinet system.

Introduction

The digital transformation of public services, enterprises, and manufacturing operations depends heavily on the reliability of data centers. However, traditional data centers are static, power-intensive, and often ill-suited for remote or crisis environments. Addressing this gap, PORDEC is designed as a modular, mobile, and eco-friendly micro data center system developed through the DENOP innovation framework.

Key Features

  1. Autonomous Security System
    • Access is restricted to authorized personnel through secure mechanisms, preventing unauthorized access and external threats.
  2. Green Power System
    • PORDEC utilizes solar panel integration for its power supply, supporting sustainable and off-grid deployment.
  3. Intelligent Cooling System
    • Equipped with compact air conditioning units to maintain optimal server temperatures and prevent overheating.
  4. Automated Cleaning & Humidity Control
    • A built-in system manages internal cleaning and regulates humidity levels autonomously to ensure stable hardware operation.

Use Case and Application

The primary application of PORDEC includes:

  • Emergency Communication Infrastructure: Rapid deployment in disaster zones.
  • Remote Industrial Sites: Connectivity and processing power in mining or rural manufacturing locations.
  • Military & Tactical Operations: Secure and mobile data infrastructure for field command centers.
  • Smart City Support Systems: Edge computing at temporary or dynamic urban deployments.

Technical Overview

  • Dimensions: Optimized for mobility, designed with caster wheels and rugged casing.
  • Power Input: Solar panel integration with battery backup.
  • Networking: Configurable ports for LAN/WAN communication.
  • Modularity: Rack-mounted units to support a wide range of server and networking hardware.

Impact

The PORDEC initiative demonstrates DENOP’s commitment to practical innovation in digital infrastructure. It highlights a strong interdisciplinary collaboration between engineering, IT, and environmental design, empowering communities and enterprises to manage critical data operations even in the most challenging conditions.

Future Development

The roadmap for PORDEC includes:

  • IoT monitoring integration for remote status tracking.
  • AI-based predictive maintenance and environmental analysis.
  • Partnership expansion with industry and government sectors for large-scale adoption.
